Women’s Health Program
From a young mom-to-be suffering with from lower back pain to a grandmother with incontinence issues, our Women’s Health Program helps women of all ages and stages. Specially trained in women’s health physical therapy, our caring female PTs feel a calling to help women who are struggling with their bodies. They have a passion for their area of expertise and have taught classes to other physical therapists across the state on women’s health. Naturally, Accelacare has private treatment rooms for women, and we keep all of our patients’ health information strictly confidential.
Pelvic Conditions
Accelacare is one of the only clinics in western Kansas to treat women’s health conditions related to pelvic floor muscular dysfunction. Too many women suffer in silence, often for years, thinking that symptoms such as pelvic pain or incontinence are “normal,” or “part of aging,” or “unavoidable after pregnancy,” or even “untreatable.” None of this is true. Not only are these issues treatable, they often disappear after just a few sessions of physical therapy! We understand the stigma related to female pelvic conditions. Indeed, some of our clients delay seeking help because they are too embarrassed. As women and experts in movement and anatomy, our PTs know exactly what you are going through, and are ready and able to help you find much-needed relief.

Pregnancy-related Conditions
Pregnancy is a time of great change in your body. As your uterus grows, your center of gravity changes, affecting your balance and posture. During your pregnancy, your body starts to make hormones that stretch your ligaments to prepare your body for childbirth. In some women, pressure on the pelvis can cause nerve issues that lead to sensations down the legs, known as sciatic pain. Our PTs can help you during and after pregnancy, teaching you ways to modify your breathing and movements in your daily life to relieve some of the pressure on your pelvic floor and throughout your body.
Pregnancy-related discomfort can keep you from fully enjoying this special time. We can help you with:
- Aches and pains throughout every stage of your pregnancy
- Back and hip pain or weakness
- Posture/stability and center of gravity changes
- Nerve pain
- Breathing exercises
- Pelvic concerns
After Your Baby Arrives
Taking the best possible care of your baby starts with taking good care of yourself. We can help you with:
- Post-childbirth urinary or fecal leakage
- Diastasis recti (separation of abdominal muscles after childbirth)
- Regaining strength and tone in your stomach muscles
- Education on how to return to exercise
- Incontinence issues and/or pelvic pain (even women who’ve had a C-section may still have these concerns)
